Need sponsors for great cause

Help sponsor our walk team for a great cause. It is called NAMIWalks for the Mind of America, NAMI’s signature walkathon event that is being held in Boise, ID at 250 Parkcenter Blvd. on October 3, 2009 at 10a. NAMI (formerly National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, now the Nation’s Voice on Mental Illness) is an education and support group for those affected by mental illness.

My sister has such an illness. My Mom and I attended a 12-week course to learn about this group of illnesses and how to help my sister move forward. There is no cure - this illness causes physical damage to the brain that, fortunately, can be helped with proper medication and other treatments.

If you're in the Boise area and want to walk with us:

We want you to walk with us if you're in the Boise area on 10/3. You can choose a 1, 3, or 5K walk. Visit our team page to sign up:
http://www.nami.org/walktemplate.cfm?section=namiwalks&Template=/customsource/namiwalks/teampage.cfm&teamID=15170
You can click on either link to register for the walk - there is no entry fee.

If you can help sponsor our team:
Visit our team page:

Any amount would be greatly appreciated ($1 or whatever you can comfortably afford). Click on one of the names (not Gary nor Gail, they already reached their goals).

We'll get immediate notification via e-mail of your participation.

NAMI is the largest education, support and advocacy organization that serves the needs of all those whose lives are touched by these illnesses. This includes persons with mental illness, their families, friends, employers, the law enforcement community and policy makers. The NAMI organization is composed of approximately 1100 local affiliates, 50 state offices and a national office.

The goals of the NAMIWalks program are: to fight the stigma that surrounds mental illness, to build awareness of the fact that the mental health system in this country needs to be improved and to raise funds for NAMI so that they can continue their mission.

NAMI is a 501(c)3 charity and any donation you make to support my participation in this event is tax deductible. NAMI has been rated by Worth magazine as among the top 100 charities "most likely to save the world" and has been given an "A+" rating by The American Institute of Philanthropy for efficient and effective use of charitable dollars. NAMI has also been given 4 out of 4 stars by The Charity Navigator for short-term spending practices and long-term sustainability.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hummie's Designer Technique Challenge

Whew - you haven't heard from me in a LONG while. My stepfather has been very ill and my Mom needed my help. After suffering for many months, my stepfather passed away peacefully. To make a long story short, my Mother is now living with my husband and me until her life settles down. So now I can get back to some digi-scrapping. I recently discovered Hummie's World and have been enjoying her tutorials and challenges. Here are the credits:

Ruby's Template - R

Ruby creates such terrific templates - and Maryse Vincent's gorgeous Broceliande kit was perfect for this layout. The journaling reads:

Our third oldest grandson is such an athlete! In these photos, he's running the Race to Robie Creek, known as the toughest half marathon in the Northwest. My husband and I had a hard time doing Robie Creek -and we were in a car!

Ruby's Template - Q

Love these templates by Ruby - she does such a fabulous job! I thought of my niece that plays volleyball when I saw the Q template - she sure is quick - so much fun to see her play. I don't know where she got her athleticism from - it sure wasn't me!

Ruby's Template - W / Dedicated to MARYSE VINCENT

"WOW" describes Ruby's templates and Maryse Vincent, a fabulous designer (you can find her designs at http://www.digiscrapbook.net/store/index.php). When Ruby sent us this template I immediately thought of Maryse's beautiful kit, Mélodie d'Amour. Our Great Granddaughter, who is not quite 2 years old, loves wearing my clothes! She's so thrilled when I put them on her, she keeps raising her arms in the air and has a big smile on her face. It's like she's saying, "Wow, this is fun!"

Tracy Drane's Grandma's Cabin

If you haven't found Tracy Drane's blog - RUN over there, don't walk! It's at http://dranet.blogspot.com. LOVE her kits, as well as Maryse Vincent's at http://www.digiscrapbook.net/store/index.php and Ruby's fabulous work at http://rubysthoughtsonthat.blogspot.com/index.html. Tracy's latest kit is Grandma's Cabin - so beautiful for heritage type layouts. She motivated me to do this layout by offering the cutest heart element which would be perfect for my step daughter since she's a new grandmother.
